I have come away from another weekend disappointed, and it’s frustrating to know that we have a top 10 car in terms of speed, but are lucky to be a top 20 car at the end of the weekend. It seems like after the first race the wheels fall off.
And again they did…
I went for a move up the inside of Bargs in race 2 and he closed the door, we dropped a lap after that incident and ended up in 24th.
The start of the 3rd race wasn’t much better when I got tangled up with Brighty and Lee Holdsworth, as often happens towards the rear of the field. Luckily the safety car helped me stay close and I was able to move up to 16th but out of the points.
One thing I know is that I am looking forward to Darwin! I was fourth overall there last year and finished 2nd in the final race. Hopefully I can reproduce something like that.
I have a debrief tomorrow and am then flying back to NZ on Thursday. I will be in Christchurch on Thursday and Friday and fly to Hamilton for their street race on Saturday morning.
Sunday will see me back to Melbourne before leaving for Darwin.
In response to a comment I am not sure who will be the lineup at Bathurst, but Mark Noske will get 1 of the seats, and the date of the open day is still to be confirmed.
In racing news it was good to see Skaifey turn it around and not only win the round, but break Brock’s record. Mark really turned it around after what would have been one of the worst week’s of his career at Winton, it was a tremendous result.
I consider myself lucky to have driven in the same era as both those guys, even though I never raced Peter Brock at his peak.
I find the whole Tony Cochrane situation a bit strange. The early reports said he was sacked, but as I am writing this I read that is not the case.
I was gobsmacked when I heard he was being sacked, after all he has done for the sport.
Tony has put V8 Supercar out there and taken it a long way, perhaps as far as he can take it, and if that is the case then John Hewson may be a good choice, as he is a strong economist.
Keep the comments coming and I will try and answer them in the blog. Also check out my new videos. I talk about my season thus far, and driving in the wet.
Jase.
