Darwin is awesome!

I finally had a good weekend at the track, and while I thought that we just missed achieving our full potential once again, I can’t complain. Three top ten finishes earned me my best points haul of the year so far, and I feel like I am just starting my championship now.

Murph I’m coming back hard in the team battle!

While it’s always nice to beat your co-driver you are racing the whole field, and I think I have the speed to compete closely. I am actually ranked 6th in qualifying overall this year, and am pretty chuffed with that effort.

I was particularly happy with how I drove in Race 1. After being spun by James Courtney on turn 1 I came back through the field and was able to return the favour on my way to 11th, but I was promoted to 10th after Will Davison got relegated for his part in the chaotic opening to the race.

I also raced while wearing a cool suit that was failing to work, which made it bloody uncomfortable to drive, it was my fault for not buying a new one and I plan to buy more in the future!

I moved forward a bit in the two races on Sunday, but was thwarted by the Safety Car on both occasions. To me it appeared that there was no real need for the Safety Car to come on to the circuit other than to get it shown on TV. Other guys had new tyres at that stage and were able to use their better grip to pass.

It was certainly an interesting weekend, given that drivers are now allowed to speak their mind without fear of being fined for their comments. And speak their mind they did.

I think morons was the popular word for the weekend and I would say that it was used correctly. What Will did was stupid and to claim that he lost his grip on the wheel was not a good excuse for causing that accident. Will made himself look silly there.

It was interesting to note that Russell Ingall was quick to criticise after he was cleaned up. Russell has been a moron on the track before.

At the end of the day we all have our moments, but Will’s was not an example of good driving.

I expect that the boys will be much more open to speaking their mind from here on out, it is something that is encouraged by the media as they can then give V8 Supercars more coverage, and the media loves nothing more that a bit of controversy between rivals, and over the course of the year I expect there will be plenty of it!

It has been an enjoyable weekend, not only did I drive well, but I also took the opportunity to drive a new Abrams Tank, and play captain of an Air North Jet!

The tank is 61 tonnes of metal and it can do speeds of up to 67 kph, which is pretty impressive. It also gives a very smooth ride if you are interested in purchasing one. Unfortunately they are worth 9 million each, so they are out of range for anyone but governments.

Air North’s new Embraer jet is awesome, it is one of the most high tech planes in this country, it was built in Brazil, and I really enjoyed the chance to get into the cockpit, which is something not many people get to do after September 11.

It’s always nice when your sponsors look out for you, and tonight Char and I will look forward to being treated to a sunset cruise aboard a 45 foot yacht courtesy of Air North.

It may be one of the last times Char and I get to do something like this before junior is born and we are happy to report that it’s all good news on that front.

Take care - Jase
